SUYS-December round 2

Here is my entry for the 2nd round for December over at Show Us Your stuff.

Criteria this time was to use blues, whites with a hint of red. So I have used only a little red with my supplies and just let the red of the photo stand out. I have also used the handmade bottlecap from Ah Scrap as my handmade addition to the page.
I decided to use some wintery items and highlight that we never have snow for xmas.
I'm not really sure about this page, but its done and I'll still enter it.

Show Us Your Stuff - challenge 2 Nov

I'm almost out of time to get this layout up for the 2nd challenge for SUYS November. I have been wanting to do this page so today I sat down and made time. I wanted to go for a different feel - so I decided on the photo and went grungy and am really pleased with the result.

I have used stampin' Up papers, a prima flower and some Ah Scrap vintage typewriter letter bottlecaps (these will be available from Dec 15th on the blog). Have also used lots of MME accents and tags.

WW1 - Nov

Well here is my entry for this months white with 1 challenge. White + bright colour of choice + flowers.

So obviously I have chosen Blue (which is also my favourite colour) and have scrapped a photo of my son from a camping trip earlier this year.

Now, I'm not entirely happy with this pages, but I will enter anyway. Its a little plain and simple but I often do some of these pages to help get through my ever expanding pile of photos. But its all about memories and not detailed pages after all.........

I have used a blue prima flower which I thought suited a boy page and some awesome flocked prima paper - my new love!!! Plus the awesome owl button from Ah Scrap!

I have used some cream paint for the background and green embellies and a cool hambly screen print.

Head over and have a go yourself!

SUYS - Oct

Here is my very first entry for Show us your stuff. This was the 2nd challenge this month and required you to use: handmade items, circles, misting and flowers.
I have added the circles by misting over some scrapware chipboard for the background. Then I've used prima flowers with an Ah Scrap fan flower and a Ah Scrap fabric button.

I enjoyed this challenge!

White with 1 - October

Here is my entry for this months White with 1 challenge.
October requires you to use: white + black + paint/misting.
And I thought being October, why not use this combination to suit a Halloween style layout! Everyone else seems to be doing the 'pretty' style, but I wanted something different. I've had this picture of my daughter for a while and this was a perfect opportunity to scrap it.

I have used some Graphic 45 papers and also some MME. I cut the flocked crow on the candlestick out from the MME paper and watered down some black paint and sprayed it over a doily that I had for the background. I really really love how this all turned out and I love my 'eerie' style page!
The journalling around the outside of the page reads:
'After having your face painted with a black mask to go with your black angel costume, you washed it off to reveal this great mess! I just loved the smudged eerie look of it, 2009'

(sorry for the curled top corner, it warped slightly when spraying the background)

Donna

Black with 2 - October

I have been busy creating pages for some challenges this weekend. Here is my entry for this months Black with 2 challenge. It requires you to use:
black + baby pink + aqua.
So I decided to use a bit of paint on this one (among other things). And it has taken me all day to finish as I've had to wait for all the elements to dry!!

And here is a close-up of the corner using some crushed shells, muslin, Ah Scrap flag and bottlecap and chipboard hearts.

It took quite some time to get the dimensional magic and paint to dry and it has slightly warped the cardstock (so please excuse if the photo is not quite right)

Scrap the boys - October

This is my very first attempt at the Scrap the Boys challenge. I have always been a regular 'watcher' but have either not had the time or not had the supplies. This month I thought suited me really well.

It required you to scrap 'boys' and use a handmade item. PERFECT!. So I have used a new pinwheel from AH Scrap and also a felt flower.

Great timing as Ah Scrap is having its first release next week on the 12th October.

The papers I have used are graphic 45, and Stampin Up. I have misted the background and let some ink dribble at the top.

Girls weekend - The Entrance

Last weekend was our annual girls weekend. This year (again) we went to The Entrance, but stayed somewhere different from last year (as this time we had 8 come along).

We took our scrapping supplies and managed to do some scrapping in between drinking, shopping, lunching out, massages, nanny naps (well, that was me as I had hardly any sleep), lots of laughs, swimming at the beach......

It was such a great weekend and there were so many laughs (my stomach was sore).

This is a page I finished and I love this one. I love the colours and the photos.

Septembers challenge is to use black with blue and yellow.

I am very happy with this page, its different to what I normally create but I love it (hence why challenges are so good to have a go at)

WWI Sept. Challenge

Here is my entry for this months white with one challenge.
this month asked you to use: white + pale pink + journalling on your photo.

As some of you may not know, I really don't like the colour Pink, so this was a challenge. I masked some leaves behind the photo with pale pink ink and added flowers and buttons.

WW1 August challenge

Here is my page for the WW1 August challenge.
Criteria this month was: white + purple + doodling

I actually found this challenge a little difficult as I didnt have many purple papers and couldnt quite decide on a style. I still think it looks a little plain, but thats what a challenge is all about - getting you to think outside the square and learn new things from it.

My doodling is the border on the white cardstock as well as on the purple circle in the centre.

Here is another page I created at my last scrap night. Using October afternoon and some hambly screen prints and some other bits and pieces that I've had in my stash (yes, for more than a year)I'm sure to get through this large stash one day!!!!
I just love the colour combination and considering I'm not a fan of the colour Pink and have never used it for a BOY page before, i'm quite happy with the final result. What do you think?

Using WOW chipboard

Here is another page I created at my last scrappy night. While creating it I remembered that WOW were wanting to see pages using their chipboard, so I added the title. I left it raw and just added some gloss to it.
I really like how the page came out. I've used some older Stampin' Up! papers and even made a handmade paper flower with some of it too.
I have also stuck to my deal of trying to use items that I've had in my stash for over a year - the papers and kaisercraft bling butterfly. (I love trying to use my stash up, that way I know it wasnt a waste of money!!)

oooh, aaah, pretty!

Scrappy night last night saw me create yet another double page. And its pink!!! (I hate pink with a passion!!). But, pink really needed to be used and this page (I think) turned out awesome!!
Basic grey papers, prima flowers and some bling really make this page what it is!
(back soon with some of the other pages I finished)

W.W.1 - July challenge

Here is my entry for this months White With 1 challenge.
Mine is titled: Last night being 5 (but the word 'being' is a bit faint in the photo)

This month required you to use: white + aqua/teal + chipboard.

I have used some chipboard stars and have painted over some star lace paper for the background.

This photo (as the title states) was taken the night before Aiden turned 6. Such a cute little photo snuggled up with his little bulldog.

Storyboard Kits challenge

Storyboard Kits have a fantastic challenge on at the moment and they have some great prizes up for grabs.
This is the sketch to get your inspiration from:

And this is my entry of my daughters playdough flower creations.

I have mainly used Cosmo Cricket in this one. I also used a yellow embossed cardstock which I highlighted with some Stampin Up ink.

The challenge requires you to use 1 of a list of techniques. I have used 2 in mine:
* lightly painted background
* handmade spiral flowers.

great friends

I havent been scrapping on Friday nights for about 3 weeks now and I am really missing it. We missed last week due to school holidays and we all took the kids to the zoo (very long day). So today I am sharing a page a finished about a month ago of some great friends of mine. These are the people I scrap with (well 3 of them are pictured here)and have become very close friends with.

I Met these ladies through my daughters school (our kids all started school together and are still friends today). This photo was taken on our first girls weekend away last year to The Entrance (we have just booked this years one too). This is the Penthouse we are renting!!

I can rely on these ladies and they are always there if I need them. Plus, they are always a good laugh!!
(I love that this page came together in under an hour too!!)
So till next week (our Friday night scrapping)...

another double page

firstly, apologies for the poor quality of the photo - was hard to capture these colours correctly. These photo booth pictures were taken at last years work xmas party. They supplied the photo booth for everyone to use on the night and boy oh boy, did we use it!! It was so much fun (especially trying to squeeze 4 people into it - unsuccessfully!) But none-the-less I have completed yet another double layout - yay for me!!

white with 1 challenge - June

This is my first entry for the White with 1 monthly challenge. Junes challenge is white+red+circles or spots.
I had to give this one a go because Tahlia's favourite colour is red and have been waiting to scrap a page of her based on these colours, so what better time than for this challenge.

great night out

had yet another creative night out scrapping last night. I'm finding I have been creating some really great pages on these nights - and yes, another double page!!!! I have even completed a challenge page which I will share very soon. 6 of us went along last night, lots of laughs were had. Wont be able to go again for a month now, but have a few plans before then!!
Back real soon.

kids arguing?

Not a normal scrappy post from me today.....
I wanted to find out if anyone else out there has the same issue I am having. Do your kids fight with each other of a morning?
Mine don't do this every morning, but when they do, it really drives me nuts and then makes us run late!!!
They usually only argue or fight over the tiniest little things, like one of them has touched something of the other ones!!! or they change the channel on the TV and the other wanted to watch the other program....GEEE, it gets a little annoying after a while. The arguments take over what they should be doing.
Then I constantly have to ask them to get dressed, put shoes on, find school hats, brush teeth etc etc. All while I am trying to pack bags and make lunches as well as get ready myself.
I am sure I am not the only one this happens too?
Please leave a comment and let me know I am not on my own!!!

more creating

Another Friday night of scrapping with the girls. Didnt go for as long this time, but still had 4 hours of scrapping time, which is more than I would usually get in a month! I managed to complete 2 pages plus a double (Can't believe I'm actually creating some double pages, as I find them so hard. But being surrounded by double page ideas in the store is really inspiring)but by creating these I'm actually getting through some photos.
This first one I finally tried some paint on bubble wrap and like the effect. A photo of me and the kids in the pool on a very hot summers day.

And I really love how this one turned out. This was taken last May at the movies. I seem to be using a lot of Orange in my cards and layouts lately, not sure why, but love this page.

And lastly, here is the double page from a work Xmas party a few years ago (had way too much to drink, which may be obvious) but so glad I finally scrapped these photos.

Thanks for looking
(till the next Friday night scrapathon)

new scrap pages

Last Friday night I went with a friend over to Scrapbook Cottage for 6 hours of un-interrupted scrapping! Had such a good time and got quite a bit done. Here are some of the pages (there is one more but I will add that to my SU! blog). This one is from last Winter when we took the kids to a local shopping centre as they had set up a mini ice skating rink. Aiden struggled a bit and needed our help, but they both loved it. I actually used quite a few photos on this page, so if I keep going to these Friday night scrapathons I might end up seeing my photo stash decrease!!! I must try and print more of my photos in this smaller size so then I can use more on my pages.

This one is from a recent family outing to Katoomba to see some waterfalls (I wanted to play with my new DSLR)

A quick page of Aiden listening to an ABC disc the year before he started kindy. (page uses Studio calico kit)

This page I'm also very happy with. I have been waiting for quite some time to scrap these photos from when we went to the Gold Coast almost 2 years ago. I had wanted to try ZORBING last time we went, but just ran out of time. SO this time I really wanted to try it. We weren't really sure how we were going to do it with the kids in tow, but when we got there, we realised kids cold go as well and yes, ours wanted to have a go. So Jason went first with both the kids, while I photographed and got some young girls to video it for me. After their go, it was my turn. The kids were allowed to have 2 goes, but Aiden didn't want a second go, so Tahlia and I went. This time Jason photographed and the young girls were happy to video again for me (and I in turn photographed their turn). It was so much fun (but over very quick) and I'm glad I had tried it. It was like being on a slip n slide (as we went in the ball filled with warmish water). Just very hard trying to get back out. Lots of laughs were had thats for sure. (I still need to add journalling to this page and I will write something similar to this post and use hidden journalling so it doesn't take up space on the page.

Donna

Bright and summery

here is one of the other pages I managed to complete on Mothers Day. I'm still trying to stick to my plan of using an item from my stash on every page that I have had for more than a year (this page includes the black and white flower and the black chipboard scroll)
I tried to make this page nice and bright to tie in with the bright fun photo. I also used one of my handmade flowers (the red one) and think it suits the page well.

Holiday page

Its been a while between posts again, but its been so hectic lately. I did manage to squeeze some scrapping time in on Mothers Day (because it was my day after all), and I managed to finish 3 pages. Below is one of them. This photo was taken on the Gold Coast 2 years ago and I recently bought the transperancy overlay, thought they went well together. Well I'm happy with the final result anyway.

Niece and Nephews

My sister recently gave me this photo of my niece and nephews and I thought it was gorgeous and it was screaming to be scrapped. So i chose some summery colours and embellies and this is the result:

(sorry about the colours looking a bit washed out, just couldnt get the right shot)
I have used lots of items here including: Stampin up, cosmo cricket and kaisercraft pp, stampin up punches, kaisercraft rhinestones and rubons, prima packaging, my own handmade felt flower, cre8tiv felt pieces, 2 bugs in a rug stickers, jenny bowling journal spot, maya road flowers, misc chipboard, bazzill, stampin up hemp twine.
I am trying to use at least 1 scrapbooking related item that is more than 1 year old on every page I complete at the moment to get through some of my stash. (And I know I am not the only one to buy things coz we love them, them they sit in the stash forgotten about for ages!!)
So on this page the items that are over 1 year old are the word stickers, chipboard piece and the yellow flowers. So I managed to used 3 things instead of 1! Yay.

challenge page

After challenging my friend Aleta to use my scraps from my page Crazy Kid (see a few posts below) this is her result. What a good way to make use of leftovers that would probably only sit around in your stash for years and years, never to be used again.

scrap retreat photos

Well below is a bit of photo overload from the scrap retreat. So I won't talk much, just wanted to share some group pics and some pics of my fave layouts from the weekend.
Group photo by day:

And at night when all the freaks come out:

Here are the layouts (well some of them anyway)
This one I really love:

This was one of my favourites:

Here is another page created with the studio calico kit:

I even used some of my handmade flowers on this page:
